On June 1, wind turbine equipment for the Tan Thuan Phase III Intertidal Wind Power Project in Vietnam, EPC contracted by GEDI, departed from Jiangsu, China, and bound for Long An Port, Vietnam, covering a voyage of approximately 1,500 nautical miles.
The project is located in the intertidal zone along the coast of Ca Mau Province, Vietnam. With an installed capacity of 25 MW for this phase, it involves the installation of four 6.25 MW wind turbines, 22 kV submarine cables, and other supporting facilities. Upon completion, the project will provide reliable and efficient clean energy, supporting Vietnam in optimizing its energy structure and promoting sustainable regional economic development.
As a typical intertidal wind power project, it faces construction challenges such as shallow water, soft silt, frequent tidal scouring, and limited draft for large vessels. GEDI leverages its expertise in full-process project management and technical integration to optimize multi-pile foundation structures, improve submarine cable ancillary facility processes, and streamline wind turbine installation. The GEDI team has pioneered the use of 6.25 MW Chinese-made WTGS on multi-pile foundations in Vietnam's intertidal zones.
During implementation, GEDI meticulously organizes its resources and capitalizes on its expertise in platform-based procurement and expediting for offshore wind power. The GEDI team strictly control wind turbine manufacturing and delivery milestones, proactively coordinate cross-border logistics, and implement meticulous end-to-end management from equipment ex-factory and port loading to marine transport. The smooth dispatch of wind turbine equipment marks the project's entry into a critical phase of accelerated delivery and on-site installation.
