Recently, the Taolian Smart Microgrid Cluster, China Southern Power Grid's first large-scale cluster control project integrating hydropower, solar, and energy storage, and supported by full-process technical services by GEDI, has been fully put into operation.
Located in the new rural demonstration zone of the forest bathing area in Wenquan (Hot Spring) Town, Conghua District, Guangzhou, the project consists of 13 sub-microgrids in 4 types and a hierarchical operation system, upgrading green electricity for local villages. GEDI proposed an innovative technical plan for distributed smart grid clusters, and solved a series of technical problems to build a hierarchical progressive control system. Guangdong Teway Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GEDI, provided a complete solution based on grid-forming energy storage technology, deployed an energy storage system with a total scale of 2.215 MW/4.43 MWh and offered full technical services.
Prior to this project, Guangdong's first whole-village flexible grid forming smart microgrid demonstration project went into operation in November 2024, reducing Taolian Village's average annual power outage time from 103.2 minutes to 0 minutes. The previous project, which GEDI is responsible for the supply of energy storage equipment and the construction and commissioning of microgrid coordinated control systems, pioneered an energy solution suitable for clean-energy-rich areas and forest protection zones, providing a leading example for building green smart microgrids in rural areas, and was awarded first prize in the 2nd Energy Electronics Industry Innovation Competition by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
