Recently, the academic journal Southern Energy Construction, sponsored by GEDI, was officially included in the Open Access Journal Index (OAJ), marking another significant milestone on the journey toward globalization and openness.

The OAJ is jointly developed by NSL (National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and CEPIEC (China Educational Publications Import and Export Corporation). It adopts internationally recognized evaluation standards, incorporates the specifics of the Chinese context, and establishes evaluation dimensions via a combination of expert consultations and data analysis. The index selects full open access journals that are widely acknowledged within the academic community and comply with standards in areas such as academic contribution, publishing regulations, and research integrity, thereby promoting the development of open science in China.

Southern Energy Construction has positioned itself, since its inception in December 2014, as a global open access academic journal, dedicated to fostering the global energy interconnection, and the sharing of scientific and technological resources of the Global South, particularly with other developing countries and BRI partners. It has been indexed in several renowned open access databases both domestically and internationally, including the National Science and Technology Journal Platform, DOAJ, CBOA, COAJ, and DCORJ.
