SAVAN 1 Phase I 300 MW Onshore Wind Power Project in Laos Comes into Operation

On December 26, 2025, the SAVAN1 Phase I 300 MW Onshore Wind Power Project in Laos, constructed under an EPC contract by GEDI, commenced commercial operation.

The project, located in Mouang Nong, Savannakhet, Laos, is invested and constructed by T&T Group. With a total installed capacity of 300 MW, the project involves the installation of 48 wind turbines, each rated at 6.25 MW, along with the construction of a new 220 kV booster station and 68 kilometers of 220 kV transmission lines. The consortium of GEDI and IPC Group is responsible for the project's design, procurement, civil engineering, installation, and commissioning. The project will transmit approximately 978 million kWh of clean electricity annually to Vietnam, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 975,000 tons per year. This will strongly promote the sustainable development in Laos and Vietnam, marking a new stage in regional power interconnection in Southeast Asia.

The project team of GEDI fully leveraged its design-led strengths and worked in close coordination with Vietnamese partners, ensuring from the outset that equipment functions and system performance met the standards of all three countries. Given that the project area experiences a rainy season lasting up to eight months each year, the project team identified risks in advance, coordinated with customs authorities and transportation partners to ensure the smooth cross-border delivery of large volumes of equipment and materials, ultimately achieving the high-quality completion and commissioning of the project.
