Zhuhai Jinwan Marine Ranch Demonstration Project (Phase I) Begins to Produce Fish

On December 26, 2024, Zhuhai Jinwan Marine Ranch Demonstration Project (Phase I) spearheaded by GEDI under EPC general contracting achieved the first fish harvest, producing more than 5,000 kilograms of sea bass, a sort of fish with tender meat.

The project builds upon the Zhuhai Jinwan Offshore Wind Farm site, and establishes the first successful case of 'offshore wind power + marine ranch' integrated development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This approach realizes the maximum comprehensive utilization of wind energy and fishery resources, and provides new ideas for the advancement of modern fishery development and comprehensive exploitation of marine resources.

The planned sea area of the whole project covers 253 hectares, and the first phase covers approximately 45 hectares. It mainly involves developing and building a central platform cage, a HDPE (high density polyethylene) gravity cage, and a steel liftable gravity cage. The total aquaculture water volume of the cages is no less than 30,000 cubic meters. Among them, the HDPE gravity cage is designed to withstand once-in-50-years sea conditions, marking the first such case in China.
