Guangdong-Hong Kong Marine Infrastructure Laboratory Approved for Construction

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province announced the results of the joint laboratory construction project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region. The Guangdong-Hong Kong Marine Infrastructure Joint Laboratory, led by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in collaboration with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority, GEDI, and CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd, has been approved for construction.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory serves as an important platform for collaborative scientific innovation in the region, aimed at enhancing research cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. It seeks to accelerate the resolution of significant scientific issues, tackle key core technologies, facilitate the transfer and transformation of research outcomes, and promote academic exchanges. The laboratory's goal is to achieve breakthroughs in forward-looking fundamental research and groundbreaking original achievements.

The newly approved Guangdong-Hong Kong Marine Infrastructure Joint Laboratory will focus on the field of marine infrastructure construction, with primary research directions including the development of new marine materials, the design and analysis of marine engineering structures, and the establishment of global intelligent management systems. The laboratory aims to jointly address major scientific inquiries, overcome key core technologies, and enhance the industry-university-research collaborative innovation capabilities, ultimately empowering the safe, green, low-carbon, and sustainable development of marine infrastructure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
