Savan 1 Phase I 300 MW Wind Power Project in Laos Commenced

Recently, as the first wind turbine foundation commenced construction and the first two batches of wind turbines arrived at the port, the Savan 1 Phase I 300MW Wind Power Project in Laos has started construction.

Located in the east of Savannakhet Province, Laos, close to the border with Vietnam, the project is one of the first cross-border wind power projects between Laos and Vietnam to start construction, comprising a 300 MW wind farm, a 35kV collector line, a 220kV step-up substation, and an approximately 53 km transmission line. The consortium formed by GEDI and Vietnam IPC Group is responsible for the project's design, procurement, civil engineering, installation, and commissioning.

Upon completion, the project will transmit around 978 million kWh of electricity across the border to Vietnam every year, equivalent to reducing around 975,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. It is of great significance to the green economic and social development of both Laos and Vietnam.
