GEDI Signs EPC Contract for Grid-Forming Energy Storage Project

Recently, GEDI signed an EPC contract for the expansion of the Magat 16MW/19MWh energy storage system in the Philippines.

The Magat Project is located in Isabela Province on Luzon Island, the Philippines. It plans to expand by installing a 16MW/19MWh energy storage system and relevant control systems and high-voltage equipment, based on the initial 24MW energy storage project. The Project becomes effective upon signing, with construction anticipated to commence in January 2025, and commercial operations in 2026. Upon completion, the Project will significantly support the stable and safe operation of the local power grid and increase in renewable energy capacity. It holds positive significance for promoting the development and utilization of renewable energy and fostering sustainable development.

In recent years, the global demand for energy storage has risen in tandem with the continual expansion of renewable energy capacity. Grid-forming energy storage acts as a stable voltage source, with self-adjustment capabilities for voltage and frequency, enhancing the stability of the power system.
